#275: STRANGE AND INEXPLICABLE PHENOMENA THAT LEAVE SCIENTISTS BAFFLED

STRANGE AND INEXPLICABLE PHENOMENA THAT LEAVE SCIENTISTS BAFFLED

Recently the secret thing has been clarified more and more, as Christ said: 'For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.'

Be silent before the Sovereign LORD, for the day of the LORD is near. The LORD has prepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited. ‘On the day of the LORD’s sacrifice I will punish the officials and the king’s sons and all those clad in foreign clothes. On that day I will punish all who avoid stepping on the threshold, who fill the temple of their gods with violence and deceit.
‘On that day,’ declares the LORD, ‘a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, wailing from the New Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills. Wail, you who live in the market district; all your merchants will be wiped out, all who trade with silver will be destroyed. At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think, “The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.” Their wealth will be plundered, their houses demolished. Though they build houses, they will not live in them; though they plant vineyards, they will not drink the wine.’
The great day of the LORD is near – near and coming quickly. The cry on the day of the LORD is bitter; the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry. That day will be a day of wrath – a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness – a day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities  and against the corner towers. ‘I will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about like those who are blind, because they have sinned against the LORD. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like dung. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD’s wrath.’ In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth.      ZEPHANIAH 1:7-18.

The following article entitled: ‘Fish Fall From The Sky in Annual Miracle That Feeds the Poor’(19 July, 2017, BIN)is fascinating, which reminds me of God’s daily provision for the Israelites in the wilderness in Moses’ day.
In Honduras, the annual rain of fish has fallen. At least once a year, sometimes twice, usually around May or June, fish rain down from the heavens onto Yoro, Honduras. The locals call it Lluvia de Peces (downpour of fish) and claim it has been happening every year for about one hundred years. One rabbi claims this strange occurrence is a wakeup call warning of things to come. No one has actually seen the fish falling from the sky. Simply put, after a heavy rain, the ground will suddenly be covered with fish. The residents collect the fish for their kitchen tables, but selling it is prohibited. Despite several attempts to discover the source of the strange phenomenon, scientists remain baffled. The locals, however, have a simpler explanation: it’s a miracle.
A story is told of a Spanish priest, Father José Manuel de Jesus Subirana, who arrived in Honduras in 1855 and worked there until his death in 1864. According to the legend, Father Subirana saw the suffering of the poor people in Honduras and prayed for three days and three nights that God should help the poor people and to provide them food. In answer to his prayer, a dark cloud appeared and fish rained from the sky, feeding all the people. Since then this wonder is repeated every year. There have actually been several reports of fish raining down from heaven, but Honduras appears to be the only place blessed with this deluge of seafood on a regular basis. The prophet Zephaniah begins his prophecy with a scenario of dying wildlife, specifically mentioning fish. ‘I will sweep away man and beast; I will sweep away the birds of the sky And the fish of the sea. I will make the wicked stumble, And I will destroy mankind From the face of the earth —declares Hashem.’ (Zephaniah 1:3)
Rabbi Yosef Dayan, a former member of the nascent Sanhedrin, said that such occurrences are signs of nature being directed by God. “More and more, we are seeing natural occurrences that aren’t natural as we know it,” Rabbi Dayan told Breaking Israel News. “When I was younger, we heard of tsunamis and earthquakes, but now they are commonplace. Instead of one or two, there are some places in the world that are experiencing hundreds of earthquakes at a time.” “Of course, everything is directed by God,” Rabbi Dayan continued. “But all these strange natural events are coming faster and faster to tell us that something exceptional is on the way. A person would have to be totally asleep to see fish falling from the sky and not wonder what is happening.”

The Book of Zephaniah, a verse out of which is excerpted in this article is a book of prophetic pronouncements of doom. As quoted at the beginning of this letter, apart from the positive note of Israel’s restoration in the end, Prophet Zephaniah pronounced God’s severe punishment for the nations including apostate Judah. While God is merciful enough to save as many nations as possible so that they will consequently call on His name and serve Him, God will put all social evil right and purify people from all wrongs through fearful judgment.

According to Wikipedia, since independence in 1821, Honduras has consistently endured much social strife and political instability, and it remains one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. While most Hondurans are Roman Catholic believers, Honduras has the world’s highest murder rate and high levels of sexual violence. As Rabbi Dayan comments in the article last year, this year we are seeing much more miraculous life-saving events caused by God as well as natural disasters such as floods, wildfires and earthquakes.

More frequently than before in 2018, God has revealed His love and power to miraculously protect lives of people in desperate need.
For example, recently in Thailand, against all odds, all twelve boys and their soccer coach trapped in a flooded cave were rescued in July. In Japan, a two-year-old boy who had been lost for three days in the woods without any food and protection was discovered well. In the sea off the coast of Croatia a British woman who fell from the back of a cruise ship was rescued after ten-hour-floating at sea.
On the other hand, there has been a significant worldwide increase in the frequency of droughts, wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, mysterious mass death of land- and marine-animals, fish and birds, reminding us of many biblical prophecies such as in Zep.1:3 and Ho.4:3.
