#292: MINISTERING SPIRITS, ANGELS

MINISTERING SPIRITS, ANGELS

I wonder if we, as bible believing Christians could expect more angelic involvement in our faith lives in the days to come, as we begin to encounter more demonic presence and persistent resistance against our walk in the Lord. ...

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father’? Or again, ‘I will be his Father, and he will be my Son’? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, ‘Let all God’s angels worship him.’
In speaking of the angels he says, ‘He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.’ But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.’
He also says, ‘In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.’ To which of the angels did God ever say, ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?   HEBREWS 1.

The Bible includes considerable information about angels, which is perhaps not a surprise, considering the Bible itself being of supernatural origin, i.e. a book written by divinely inspired authors, and miraculously and virtually preserved unchanged over thousands of years under God’s protection. Thus, the Bible is completely different from any other religious books and any books written by man.
Despite the sceptics’ assertions that the Bible is scientifically inaccurate, that the biblical stories are either fraud or overly embellished, that the biblical prophecies were written after the actual event, or that the Bible’s text has been severely corrupted over time, ironically, the scientific and historical accuracy of the Bible has been increasingly confirmed with overwhelming evidence by archaeology, astronomy, physics, and biology.

When the Book of Hebrews was written, the bible -believing Jews regarded angels as the most exalted of all God’s creatures, because the Law was given to their revered man of God, Moses by angels. An Old Testament term for angels in Hebrew was ‘holy ones’. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul reminded Christ’s followers of the fact that angels took an important role in the law conferment:
The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. (Ga.3: 19)
In the same way, I wonder if we, as bible believing Christians could expect more angelic involvement in our faith lives in the days to come, as we begin to encounter more demonic presence and persistent resistance against our walk in the Lord.

The Book of Hebrews was written to Christians in danger of falling away and gives five major warnings, briefly described as drifting, disobedience, immaturity, wilful sin, and indifference. The author heavily refers to Israel’s Exodus and how the redeemed people Israel in that generation failed to heed God’s instruction, went her own way and was judged because of their disobedience.
In his argument, he draws a comparison between the angel and Christ in chapters 1 & 2. The Son is superior to the angels by virtue of His deity, His humanity, and His saving power but paradoxically He became a man, who is lower than the angels and also, He died as a mortal man while angels are immortal.

Christ said that His followers would be like the angels in the resurrection in Luke 20:34-36, so, what is actually written about angels and their characteristics in the Bible?
The angels were created as immortal beings. They are capable of making good or bad choices, in other words, to follow God’s instructions or the devil’s. They can appear like man or take any other forms.
However, a very popular conception of angels as winged beings cannot be found in the Bible, apart from some special creatures around the throne in heaven serving God all day long, and the case in which they are represented as flying. The angels accept material food. That’s why we may sometimes entertain angels unaware.
But in contrast to demons, who are naked and homeless and seek human or animal bodies as their habitation, the holy angels never dwell in man’s bodies.

Angels are holy and created as ministering spirits but no authority is given to them. In contrast, sovereignty over the earth was promised to man. Although man lost this right through sin caused by Satan and his fallen angels (demons), Christ regained it for man by His redemptive death on the cross. Areas where angels presently minister will be completely superseded by Christ and His followers in the Lord’s Second Coming.
However, until then, guardian angels are being sent to God’s “little ones” to protect and care for them from the beginning of infancy. Although the existence of guardian angels does not promise that nothing bad happens to believers, it means that nothing will happen to believers outside the will of God. Angels observe everything about God’s people during their lives on earth and when a believer dies his/her soul is escorted to paradise by angels according to Christ’s parable of “the rich man and Lazarus” (Lk.16:19-31).

I have come across an encouraging article:
We are coming into a more intense season of the clashing of kingdoms of light and darkness over God's will being fulfilled …we are approaching a time, era and new decade that heavy angelic activities will be surprisingly noticeable …it's the result of the supernatural reinforcement of the angels assigned to the prayers of God's people. Don't stop praying, decreeing God's Word and pursuing by faith what the Lord has purposed in your heart to do for Him …no matter what hardship we are currently facing, Father God is our source, protector and provider. God dispatches His angels to watch over and protect us from dangers seen and unseen …Breakthrough victory is your portion. So whenever you feel overwhelmed, defeated or deplete, just remember that there are invisible friends and warriors standing guard all around you if you just open your eyes to see that the enemies of God are no match against the Lord of Host and His will over your life.
