#304: AFTER INACCURATE PREDICTIONS OF COVID-19 AND THE US ELECTION

AFTER INACCURATE PREDICTIONS OF COVID-19 AND THE US ELECTION

In his very first day in office, 46th US President Joe Biden reversed his predecessor Trump’s policies.Some rabbis see the coronavirus’ crown-like appearance as a sign of the preparation for the Davidic dynasty, now that American democracy is collapsing...

But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, ‘First seek the counsel of the LORD.’ So the king of Israel brought together the prophets – four hundred men – and asked them, ‘Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I not?’ ‘Go,’ they answered, ‘for God will give it into the king’s hand.’ But Jehoshaphat asked, ‘Is there no longer a prophet of the LORD here whom we can enquire of?’ The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, ‘There is still one prophet through whom we can enquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.’… So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, ‘Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.’… The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, ‘Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favourably.’ But Micaiah said, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what my God says.’… Micaiah continued, ‘Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing on his right and on his left. And the LORD said, “Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead… Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD … ‘“I will go and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,” … ‘So now the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you.’ 2CHRONICLES 18:4-8, :12-13, :18-22. Lines added

On 21st January 2021, in his very first day in office, 46th US President Joe Biden signed 17 executive orders, 15 of which directly reversed his predecessor Trump’s policies, including the US response to the Covid-19 pandemic and withdrawals from both the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization (WHO). He barred discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation exactly as expected and feared by bible believing Christians and Jews. After the new president appointment having been settled, a surge of precautionary atmosphere among American Jews in the US has been reported.

Israel365News reports that perhaps tens of thousands of American Jews are reconsidering Aliyah (immigrate to Israel), including the American Haredi/Yeshivish community, who, up to now, have had minimal interest in aliyah, and who had felt, to a large extent, that there was not a place for them in Israeli society. The article refers to its cause as follows:

The COVID virus and Trump’s handling of it, coupled with the riots related to BLM and rising cases of anti-Semitism, caused Jews in America to re-evaluate their long-term prospects. [These events] have motivated this group to aggressively start looking at aliyah.

On the other hand, according to another article, there seem to have been some rabbis who looked to the Bible for a solution. They likened Biden’s presumptive behaviour of victory on the day after the election before the result had been completely settled and the media prematurely declaring Biden’s victory, to that of Adonijah (the fourth son of King David) who attempted to usurp the throne from his father (1Ki.1:5-53).

Some rabbis see the coronavirus’ crown-like appearance as a sign of the preparation for the Davidic dynasty emerging after the final redemption, and they believe that a restoration of Davidic dynasty is closer than many realise, now that American democracy is collapsing;

It is clear that the solution is a return of the Davidic dynasty… A king from the Davidic dynasty will be the conduit for God’s kingship to spread out into the world. It is not a form of global control. It is how rulers will learn how to rule their nations “under God”.

In the same article above, Rabbi Yosef Dayan who was recognized by the Sanhedrin as a direct descendant of King David in 2005 claims:

Democracy comes from ancient Greece… The Torah is based in doing the will of God… Democracy is a form of idolatry which is, in essence, a form of warfare in which the many can rule over the few… there must be a return to a monarchy based in God’s law… The only basis for laws is the Bible. The purpose of a government is to bring God’s law into the world… What is happening in the US right now is the system became unstable and because it does not contain all of the necessary elements of a government, it is trying to fix itself through the power of itself.

Rabbi Dayan’s biblical perspective is none other than bible believing Christians’ expectation for the Millennial Kingdom ruled by Christ, our everlasting King of the Davidic line. If Joe Biden’s inauguration, instead of pro-Israel Trump’s another four year term, causes a prompt establishment of the Davidic dynasty in Jerusalem much sooner than many expect, it would be good news.

However, what happened in the US presidential election, in which all self-professed prophets prophesied that Trump would win, has brought the believers in Christ crucial messages concerning prophets of the New Testament era and in the end times. The Bible frequently warns of the existence of false prophets at any time, but particularly in the last days, whereby many believers, even the elect, would be deceived due to lack of their own biblical knowledge.

The passages quoted from 2 Chronicles in the beginning show the fact that against many false prophets, there was only one genuine God’s prophet who had been sent to Israel. In the OT times when the whole Scripture had not being compiled yet, God Himself appointed His very few, authentic and authoritative prophets. There was no room for error left for them, so their words could be equal to God’s own as written in 2 Chr.20:20.

But this principle cannot be applied to the post-resurrection NT era when God’s whole revelation was granted through Jesus Christ and also in the Bible as written in He.1:1-2. As many passages of the Bible tell us, when it comes to the principle of God’s Kingdom and the spiritual world, the principle of the “decision by majority” does not become the criterion of right or wrong.

We should not repeat the same mistakes by blindly accepting false prophecies as seen in the US presidential election. The greatest victim might have been President Trump if there are indeed secret tactics between the Democratic and Republican parties. If this is the case, we need to pray for his soul’s peace.
